Attaching Cables To Your Battery

If you ever need to jump start another car with your own while in Walnut Creek, CA, there are a few things to keep in mind so that it's a safe process. First, make sure the jumper cables that are used are in good condition. Both vehicles should be in park or in neutral to keep them from rolling. Turn off both cars until the cables are in place.

Remove any caps that are on the battery terminals of both batteries. The red clip should be attached first on your battery before putting it on the battery of the other car. Next, attach the black clip to the negative post of the other battery instead of yours.

Turn your car on, letting it run for a few minutes so that the charge from your battery can charge the other one. Try starting the other vehicle, waiting a few minutes longer if it won't turn over. If the car still won't start, then consider visiting Diablo Subaru of Walnut Creek for a new battery or to check other issues that could be wrong.
