Parallel parking can be intimidating, even for experienced drivers. Here are the steps you should take to parallel park with confidence.
- Find the right space that will fit your vehicle.
- Check your rearview and drivers side mirror to make sure there's not another car coming and turn your signal on.
- Line your vehicle up with the vehicle parked in front of the space. Your vehicle should be parallel to the other vehicle.
- Before reversing double check to make sure it's all clear.
- Put your vehicle in reverse and slowly begin backing into the turn.
- Sharply turn your wheel, turning until you can see the bumper of the vehicle in front of you.
- Continue reversing until your vehicle is at a 45-degree angle, then turn the wheel in the opposite direction.
- Keep backing up until your vehicle is in the spot, making sure you don't hit the vehicle behind you.
- Pull forward in order to straighten out your vehicle and make sure you leave enough space for the other vehicles to exit their spaces.
